ABSTRACT

I do not want to say that it is necessary, but it is certainly useful for mutual understanding that a university lecturer, at the beginning of his course of lectures, indicate the point of view which he maintains or thinks he maintains in the realm of general ideas and that he defi ne the position he occupies in the confl ict of the leading opinions which move his scholarly discipline. Let us consider in particular the method, which not only determines the form of his lectures but has the greatest infl uence on the treatment of the subject matter.
