A Social Anthropological Approach to Women's Roles and Status in Developing Countries: The Domestic Cycle

The object of this chapter is to discuss the role of social anthropology in interdisciplinary studies of women’s roles and status in developing countries. The focus here is on women’s position in rural African and Asian societies, and the variables which affect both status and changing attitudes towards fertility control and participation in the labour market.
