ABSTRACT

Considering the present geographical and geological features in­ cluding the history of their formation, Southeast Asia can be roughly divided into three regions-

(1) The non-volcanic western region consisting of large land masses of the mainland such as the Indochina and Malay Penin­ sulas and their surroundings of the shallow continental shelf with a depth of water of less than 200m, Sumatra and Borneo.
