ABSTRACT

As noted by other authors in this volume, higher education is a booming business; as the knowledge economy displaces the industrial economy, the world demand for people with higher education correspondingly accelerates the demand for college diplomas and university degrees thought to be symbolic of education and training. Basic economics informs us that, when there exists demand, there will be people who are ready to supply, oen by any means necessary (especially when demand exceeds supply or the supplies are dicult to obtain).
