ABSTRACT

The field of play therapy is still a developing area in the mental health profession, and filial therapy is an even more recent, innovative and unique modality within the field of play therapy. Only a handful of university counseling, psychology, or social work programs offer graduate training in filial therapy. This chapter presents some guidelines for training in the CPRT filial therapy model, essential personal characteristics of filial therapists, and important variables in facilitating a CPRT/filial therapy group.
