ABSTRACT

Since the autumn of 1964 when I graduated from the psychology department of the National Taiwan University, I have been working and studying in the clinical psychology field, both in Taiwan and in the United States. It was not until twenty-seven years later that I learned about sandplay therapy. When I first heard about it in the fall of 1991 in a play therapy class at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology (MSPP), I knew it was in my destiny to learn this unique, creative, nonverbal psychotherapy approach, and to bring it to Taiwan, my home country, to teach and share. With a great deal of determination, effort, and monetary costs, I obtained the certification of Sandplay Therapists of America and the International Society of Sandplay Therapy in 1996.
