ABSTRACT
Relationships can get caught up in misunderstanding, disappointment and hostility, as well as opening avenues for expressing loving care, desire and close connection. There is a `third' area between women and men (or in same-sex relationships) where any or all of these things may occur. This area is a living alchemical presence which interlocks with, but also constellates something additional to, the relational dyad.
