ABSTRACT

In this chapter we consider the benefits of working collaboratively with a range of partners in order to enhance the delivery of CLD to young people. There have been many government documents written in recent years espousing the need for services to be ‘joined up’ and delivered collaboratively through partnership working; Every Child Matters (DfES 2003) and Youth Matters (DfES 2005a) and the Extended Services agenda (DfES 2005b) are just three examples. If career is seen in its broad sense (‘How I am going to progress through my life course?’ rather than ‘What am I going to do when I leave school?’), it is clear that a number of people with varying perspectives will be involved in the CLD process. Indeed, the CLD process can benefit greatly from their involvement; a team of people is always likely to achieve more than a single individual. This chapter examines some of the ways in which these key people and services can be involved to enhance CLD for young people.
