ABSTRACT
Since public interest litigation (PIL) emerged as an advocacy strategy in the US civil rights movement, it has spread to other parts of the world, including Asia. To varying degrees, public interest litigation has become a signifi cant driver of social change in Asia. Little academic literature, however, has focused on this development. This volume seeks to redress this gap in scholarship by exploring the growth and future trajectory of public interest litigation in Asian jurisdictions.
