ABSTRACT

The visual field is the extent of visual space over which vision is possible with the eyes held in a particular direction, typically straight ahead. The temporal (outer) limit of the monocular visual field extends over 70 to 90 degrees (°) of visual angle, the nasal (inner) limit extends over 60°, the superior (upper) limit over 50°, and the inferior (lower) limit over 70°. Thus, the horizontal extent of the binocular visual field is 70° to 90° in the left and right hemifield, the total horizontal extent is 140° to 180°.
