ABSTRACT
The gerund is used in combination with a number of auxiliary verbs (see Chapter 24). Notably, it is used with the present and imperfect tenses of the verb estar to form the continuous present and past tenses:
Estou esperando a resposta dela. I’m waiting for her answer.
