ABSTRACT
In the active sentence, 'Ronnie' is the subject (the doer of the action) and 'the bill' is the object (the receiver of the action). In the passive sentence, the receiver of the action becomes the grammatical subject, and the doer is specified at the end. This reversal of grammatical roles is the essence of the passive.
