ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION This chapter will allow you to develop analytical skills that will enable an examination of political and philosophical issues, which impact upon health and social care, by introducing key philosophical, political and ethical theories. It starts with a consideration of philosophy and the purpose of philosophical inquiry for health and social care. This opens the discussion to various aspects of philosophical inquiry of the moral concepts of rights, responsibility, freedom, authority and power.
