On rejected mothers

The fiercest parent-child conflicts typically develop between mothers and daughters, not between fathers and sons, as the Oedipus myth recounts. This chapter deals with daughters who reject their mothers. I give several examples of rejected mothers who were feeling desperate and sought help. If both parties to the conflict are prepared to cooperate, finding a solution is usually possible.
