ABSTRACT

Protection against gender-based discrimination is today found in both federal and state constitutions and statutes. Aggrieved persons may complain to the courts at either level of government to gain redress of their grievance. However, the most viable bases for litigation are at the federal level under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and the several civil rights statutes that have been promulgated by Congress to prevent government and its agencies from discriminating.
