ABSTRACT
Chapter 8 gave evidence, from four areas, that has been interpreted as suggesting that motor factors are operative in stuttering; the motor system does not merely respond passively to linguistic input. The areas included (1) altered auditory feedback, (2) local and global speech rate changes that affect stuttering, (3) articulatory variability, and (4) coordination.
