ABSTRACT
This short chapter considers one of the common forms of story in education, the uses of case studies, scenarios and critical incidents – though they are not always stories. The subject matter of the chapter overlaps that of several other chapters, particularly Chapters 8, 11 and 12 (professional development, research and fiction). I begin this chapter with some general comments on the use of scenarios (p. 125). Then I provide a variety of examples of the uses of scenarios that are suitable for application in a variety of educational contexts (p. 126). The last section describes a workshop process that illustrates an innovative means of developing of case study material for higher education and professional development (p. 129).
