ABSTRACT

For more than half a century, beginning in the late 1950s, Elliot Aronson and I shared many of the experiences, big joys and heart-rending pains, small jokes and goofs, and shit-fits that make life meaningful. We began together as eager assistant professors in the Social Relations Department at Harvard. We bonded quickly because we were among the few in that department then who knew how to do an experiment and actually did a few.
