ABSTRACT

Public transport integration covers a wide range of elements, including information, tickets and fares, network planning and wider integration. The aim of this chapter is to examine an optimization framework for integration of railway services, considering both the costs and benefi ts of such integration. In this context, rail integration would concern both intra-rail measures (e.g. timetable coordination between

rail services provided by different operators) and initiatives enhancing the interfaces between rail and other modes (e.g. access to bus stops within the rail station).
