ABSTRACT

Fitting study around life is essential for today’s learners as they attempt to balance competing responsibilities in an increasingly fast-paced living and learning environment. Advances in technology over the last two decades, most recently manifested in the proliferation of Web 2.0 tools for collaboration and sharing, have extended opportunities for more varied and ¸ exible approaches to learning. Nevertheless, formal learning remains for the most part premised on a traditional model of timetabled, classroom-based instruction that does not easily accommodate learner demands for more ¸exible approaches.
