ABSTRACT

What do the preceding chapters imply for the practice of English in elementary, middle-and high-school classrooms, and for the future of English studies at further and higher education levels? The framing of assignments, the place of writing in the classroom, the way texts are composed and the way they are ‘read’ will all be addressed. As well as setting out what might be done, this chapter will cite and demonstrate examples of what has been done. It will provide a colourful and generative set of ideas for use in the classroom, with an invitation to build on these in original ways.
