ABSTRACT
Columbus was absent when he arrived and published his orders by sound of trumpet. They were dated Madrid, April 9th, 1495 ; and to this effect:—" Gentlemen, Esqrs. and others, who by our command are in the Indies! we send to you Juan Aguado, our steward (repostero), and we command you to give entire credit to what he shall in our name say to you."
