ABSTRACT

January the 6th, the admiral entered a river, which the Indians called Yebra, and the admiral named " Belen," in honour of the day when the three wise men went to Bethlehem; and passing on, he found another, which the natives called Veragua. The admiral ordered both rivers to be sounded. The barks ascended the Belen, to a village, where they were told that the gold mines were in Veragua.
