ABSTRACT
The two technical sections that follow are collaborations between theatre consultants, practising designers and technicians. The contributors have been selected for their particular expertise representing many years of practical experience and in-depth knowledge. Proscenium houses are considered first, but open stage theatres that feature thrust or in-the-round stages are also discussed in some detail. Subsections 5.2 and 5.3 provide an overview of the subject, while subsequent subsections describe the equipment in detail.
