ABSTRACT

The Schools of Ambition programme (2006-2010) is a collaborative partnership between 52 high schools, 3 universities, and the Scottish Government Schools’ Directorate. The role of the university-based Research Support Team is to stream formative feedback to the schools and wider education community through a 3-year period of school-initiated “transformational change.” The programme is distinctive in Scotland in its promotion of an action research model within a national programme for school change. This chapter identifi es the opportunities and challenges arising from participation in this innovative programme from the perspective of university, school, and government participants.
