ABSTRACT

This chapter extends the enterprise of charting the empirical landscape that I started in Chapter 4. I explore evidence from studies conducted across multiple locations and consider some of the potential afforded by wireless, mobile and ubiquitous technologies. These technologies bring with them the opportunity to link a learner’s experience across multiple locations. I discuss the Homework project and the associated HOMEWORK software. This project explored how technology could be used with 5-6-year-old children to support their interactions with a variety of other people as well as with a variety of other resources across a range of locations. At the end of the chapter I integrate the theoretical and empirical grounding and present the Ecology of Resources model of context.
