Zoellner, Robert (b. 1926) Developed the "talk-write" model for teaching the composing process, a model adapted from behavioral psychology. Zoellner attacks the "think-write" metaphor, the idea that the written word is thought on paper. He objects to methods for teaching writing that assume that writing problems stem largely from deficiencies in students' thinking. He views writing as a
behavioral process, a pattern of responses that produce the finished essay. He is one of the first theorists to give serious attention to the composing process.
