ABSTRACT

This text deals with emergence found in man-made systems, in general, and in system of systems engineering applications, specifically. There are four sections to this text. Section I is Introduction and Overview. Its purpose is to provide a context or foundation for the rest of the text. Section II is Theoretical Perspectives. The objective is to solely address those chapters that are only based on solid academic principles. Section III is Theoretical Perspectives with Practical Applications. This section goes the next step to provide definitive applications that are based upon the academic principles provided earlier. Section IV, the last section, provides the reader with those major tenets that can be derived from this text and what steps can yet be taken.
