ABSTRACT
Discusses whether creatures have varying degrees of consciousness and what this might imply, why the problem of factory farming is a high priority, whether it is rational to reject strong pro-animal welfare positions because they sound “extreme” or “crazy” to ordinary people. Several sources of bias against vegetarianism are identified.
