ABSTRACT
A key global challenge for rural health and residential aged care services in the future will be their ability to cater for the needs of people with dementia. Globally, approximately 47 million people are living with dementia (Alzheimer’s Disease International, 2015). Given that older adults are proportionally more likely to live in rural and regional settings (Glasgow and Brown, 2012; Skinner and Hanlon, 2016), the number of older people living with dementia in rural settings is likely to increase (Stewart et al., 2016).
