ABSTRACT

NEPAD is as attractive to the West as it is to Africans. For the West, it offers a new possibility to secure African stability – in cases where traditional approaches have failed miserably; for African states and leaders it offers the chance to take responsibility for doing so. If successful, it will present economic opportunities in previously hostile and risky markets, and significantly reduce the threat of a transnational spillover of people and problems arising from African conflicts and failing economies.
