ABSTRACT

It is March 1979 in Holstebro, on the far side of Denmark. It is bleak, cold, remote – seas and rivers frozen. On the outskirts of the small town there is a compound of huts and old army buildings. Here a company of actors, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, Italian, American, English, live and work. They are the Odin Teatret, founded by Eugenio Barba. Their day begins at seven in the morning and continues for ten or twelve hours of training, rehearsal, and daily chores.
