ABSTRACT

Throughout this study, we have been concerned to explore the British electoral system by drawing upon different approaches to the study of politics and by looking for revealing contrasts and comparisons. Since these comparisons are of various kinds, it will be helpful, in concluding, to draw them together, and a number of the most important ones will be reviewed in the next section. In the second section we briefly note the advantages and limitations of the different perspectives we have adopted, and finally we explain why the subject of our enquiry requires the integration of these approaches.
