ABSTRACT
Research on theatre and study of its history is done almost exclusively at the University of Guinea, mostly at the graduate level.
Only a single publishing house exists within the country: La Societe africaine des livres guineennes (African Society of Guinean Books) run by Djibril Tamsir Niane, a professor at the university. Despite ongoing financial difficulties, it publishes a limited number of literary works but no scripts. The only play that has been published is Abdoulaye Fanye Toure’s Mask o f the Empire which appeared under the imprint Patrice Lumumba Press.
