Choosing philosophical trajectories regarding barbarism

Our aim in this chapter is to present an overview of the large, philosophical fissures that we shall be following in this project. We shall align Baudrillard with Kant, to suggest that postmodernist philosophy shares many of the neo-Kantian assumptions found in orthodox functionalism. Against them, one finds Nietzsche and Schopenhauer criticizing the Kantian universe of appearances, and differing primarily on the issue of Christian ethics.
