ABSTRACT
Ritson (1752–1804), an able English antiquary of a combative temperament, published his Collection of Scottish Songs in two volumes in 1794. He referred in I, LXXIV–LXXV, to Burns’s contributions to James Johnson’s Scots Musical Museum (see Introduction, p. 12).
