Weygandt (1871–1957) taught in the English Department of the University of Philadelphia from 1897, and was professor 1907–42. Katherine Brégy in her reminiscences in the Catholic World, February 1939, wrote that she studied under the ‘devout all-round scholar, Dr. Cornelius Weygandt’. He was the author of several works on English literature.
