—Nominal Realism

THE problem of names involves the sanle difficulties which came to light in studying the dualism that exists in the child's mind between internal and external. Are names in the subject or the object? Are they signs or things? Have they been discovered by observation or chosen without any objective reason? The child's answers to these questions will reveal the extent and the exact significance of the realism which was foreshadowed in the previous chapter.
