When we consider the meaning of politics from another standpoint, we do not imply that analyses in terms of nation or class are unsound, inexpedient or immoral. The function of an analysis which is executed from a different point of departure is to bring new relationships to the focus of attention. It is true that the contemplation of new differences may lead to the substitution of new loyalties for old. Yet this is not by necessity the case ; old attitudes may gain in rational symmetry, and hence in structural perfection and permanence.
