Mr. Knight has made a searching analysis of Christianity and of the ethical problem of Western culture. His essay bristles with provocative observations which invite discussion. The spirit of honest inquiry animates his analysis. This quality is important because the issues with which he deals are inflammatory. Too commonly they are discussed with a display of prejudice and partisanship which only befog the subject.
