ABSTRACT
As far as is known to the writer, this is the first study of its kind made in England, and the results stand alone in that they report empirical findings concerning the development of personality in contrasting groups of English people. The conclusions which may be drawn from the results are of considerable interest not only for psychological theory but also for their relevance to problems of social work and social planning.
