ABSTRACT
From time to time, mention has been made of differences in the school system of the two countries and the bearing these have on neighbourly relations. This chapter attempts to bring together these features and to explain their effect on the day-to-day lives of newcomers on new estates and subdivisions. It does not attempt a comprehensive description of American education or, later in the chapter, of teenage activities.
