ABSTRACT
In the Introduction I gave my main reason for concerning myself with the subject of this enquiry, that I had found insufficient information readily available to permit me to arrive at satisfactory conclusions regarding a number of problems and aspects concerning retirement, with which I had been involved. When I ask myself whether I am satisfied that I can now achieve a balanced judgment on many of these aspects, the answer is still negative. However, I do know a great deal more about old people, their difficulties and problems than when I started.
