ABSTRACT
When discussing trade-union attitude to apprenticeship, we must not forget that over a large part of industry apprenticeship is not an issue at all (except for a relatively small number of maintenance men). There is no apprenticeship in mining, textiles, boot and shoe manufacture or railway transport, for instance.
