Music and Drama
EVERY sizeable and many small villages support a drama club and some a music society too. This is a very different situation from that existing thirty years ago when there were few of either of these activities outside the larger towns. Many factors have helped to bring about the change: formal school education, wider experience of music and plays through the media of the radio, television, the live theatre and concert hall have all helped. Without the county and national voluntary organisation, which brought to the task sympathy, understanding, skilled knowledge and some money, there would be far fewer village drama clubs and societies and no regional and national competitions and festivals.
