ABSTRACT
Berlin is particularly interesting as a city since it is (or was !) about the same size as Paris, although its growth has been more recent and rapid. Like Paris, it has been the subject of special studies upon which this chapter is based. We shall emphasize the geographical differentiations within the built-up area and the limits of the urban complex.
