Greek Orthodoxy -- the official religion of Greece, Cyprus, and of the Greek Diaspora (the approximately 4.5 million people of Greek ethnic origin, language, and religion spread throughout the world)--is part of the historically continuous Church of Eastern Christianity out of which the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox churches of the Balkans were established from the tenth century onward. Greek Orthodoxy has unbroken continuity with primitive Christianity.
