ABSTRACT
The Unification Church was founded as the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity in 1954 in Korea by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon (1920-). Church members are popularly known as Moonies. Unification theology as found in the movement's scripture, Divine Principle, is an interpretation of the Bible influenced by Eastern thought. T h e eschatology promises the restoration of God's Kingdom of Heaven on Earth under the leadership of a messiah (whom his followers believe to be Moon).
