The client's perceptions of guidance
This chapter concerns an in-depth, qualitative study of adults' perceptions of guidance in different education settings. The chapter opens with a brief discussion of the key literature concerning life-long learning before moving on to a summary of the research itself. The authors then discuss clients' perceptions of guidance at three stages of participation: when making choices about providers and courses; whilst on course; and when leaving courses. The chapter closes with a consideration of the implications for guidance providers raised by salient findings.
