ABSTRACT

The concept of psychopathic personality includes so many conditions that at times this label is applied to a person for want of a more appropriate designation. This loose usage has resulted in a loss of value for the term. Essentially, it should be reserved for individuals who have shown consistent maladjustment since childhood. Dr. Karl A. Menninger is of the opinion that “transilient personality” would be a more accurate descriptive name, meaning “passing as by a leap from one thing to another; marked by breaches of continuity or abrupt transitions or variations.”
